Lacking definitive ears, anemones are not known for their hearing abilities. Sea anemones use tiny hairs – similar to those in our own ears – to 'hear' their prey, and are able to repair the damage to them at an alarming speed using a special protein. This natural ability to repair the feathery hairs is providing new insight for researchers of hearing loss, and could have positive effects on modern science in the future – proving yet again that there is still much to be learned from the wisdom of nature.
