Uncovering the structures of clouds

Different cloud types denote various weather patterns, and simply by looking up we can predict the oncoming atmospheric changes.
The rare Mammatus formation shown above – cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud – suggests impending thunderstorms. Pilots must learn to identify cloud patterns such as these in order to navigate safely through the sky.
